John Mickel MP - Queensland Minister for Trade

It's an exciting time for Queensland exporters. Competing in an international marketplace where standards, quality and innovation are more important than ever, demand for the Smart State's innovative products and services is growing.

Exporting is a vital contributor to Queensland's economy, with goods exports last year worth more than A$35.4 billion. Selling to overseas customers opens doors to business growth and ensures ongoing competitiveness. The efforts of Queensland companies in pursuing overseas sales continue to boost our State as a supplier of choice in the global marketplace.

Our export success stories span across major industry sectors from mining and manufacturing to marine and creative industries. In fact, Queensland's unique creative talents and our highly skilled workforce are becoming increasingly recognised as world-class.

As Queensland's Minister for Trade in a proudly pro-business government, I am committed to growing Queensland export success.

In December 2007, the Queensland Government reinforced its commitment to Smart State exporters with the launch of Trade Queensland - a new identity for the Queensland Government's export agency.  A key marketing initiative, Trade Queensland will build recognition of Smart State export capabilities in key markets by presenting a consistent and recognisable global image for Queensland exporters, and assisting Queensland businesses to develop export opportunities and international business relationships.

I am determined that Trade Queensland will continue to deliver exemplary export services to Queensland businesses within the State and overseas. I encourage you to make use of the services on offer by contacting the Trade Queensland team and providing your feedback on where further assistance might be provided.
