Message from Phil Hennessy, KPMG Queensland Chairman
Chair of the 2009 Export Awards Judging Panel

I am both honoured and delighted to Chair the Judging Panel for the Premier of Queensland's Export Awards 2009.Each of you is our ambassador - exporting Queensland to the world! Entering this year's Export Awards should be high on your business agenda!

In these turbulent times, Queensland's Export Awards are a fantastic opportunity to take a closer look at your current operations - and consider how you are differentiating yourself in this ever-changing, highly competitive global market place. The Awards offer you the chance to get up close and personal with the Queensland Minister for Trade and to celebrate in your own and other's export successes, share business innovations and network with your peers.

This year's panel of judges possess significant public and private sector experiences in both international and local spheres. Our judges are from all walks of business life - from small, family-owned operations to global multinationals - from regional and metropolitan areas of Queensland - and we take our evaluation responsibilities very seriously.

We feel privileged to share in your export successes and lessons learned. Your depth of experience and innovative initiatives are inspiring. So as to provide each applicant with the greatest chance of succeeding in the Export Awards, we are completely transparent about the evaluation criteria. These criteria are published and I encourage you to leverage this information when preparing your application.

In addition to your formal application form, we may consult your company website to glean further information about your business. Following a rigorous evaluation process, we will reward applicants based on the company deemed to possess the highest exporting merit.

As with any judging process, integrity is paramount. As Chair of the Judging Panel, I insist that all members of the panel, including myself, declare any conflict of interest with their role.

John Hennessy
Chair of the judging panel
