Testimonials
NOJA Power Switchgear, winner Queenslander Exporter of the Year 2007
NOJA Power Switchgear was very proud to receive the Premier of Queensland Exporter of the Year for 2007. This acknowledgement and recognition by our government provides our global customer base with confidence in our products and company. The recognition has also helped raise our profile nationally. The award also provided our staff with recognition for their hard work that has enabled NOJA Power to achieve export success.
NOJA Power Switchgear manufactures low and medium voltage switchgear. The Premier of Queensland's Export Award has definitely raised our industry sector's profile and in particular acknowledges Queensland and Australia's capacity to create high tech leading edge technology products and provide them competitively to the global market.
We would encourage companies that are actively exporting their products to participate in the awards. The program provides both acknowledgement of staff achievement as well as an important opportunity to build your company's profile and brand. The black tie dinner is also an important networking opportunity that should not be missed.
As a team who has been involved with exports for more than 15 years we have participated and attended the Premier of Queensland's Export Awards for most of this period. To win the Premier of Queensland Exporter of the Year in 2007 was one of our proudest moments and is a career achievement that the founders of NOJA Power ( Neil O'Sullivan, Oleg Samarski, Jay Manne, Quynh Anh Le and Tony Stacey ) will always look back on with great pride.
Neil O'Sullivan, Managing Directoreeni meeni miini moh, finalist Emerging Exporter Award 2007
Being short-listed as one of four finalists for the Premier of Queensland's Emerging Exporter Award has had an extremely positive effect on our business. It has contributed to our credibility in the international arena and enabled us to further increase awareness of our brand.
Our award nomination has since been incorporated into all of our media and promotional material. This has resulted in editorial coverage of our achievements. Being included in the award's promotional material has also increased exposure of our brand.
Being short-listed for the Premier's Emerging Exporter Award has reinforced our position as one of Australia's most enterprising and successful children's fashion design companies.
We would encourage all suitable companies to enter the 2008 Export Awards. It is a great platform from which to promote your company and provides a good networking opportunity.
The Premier of Queensland's Export Awards Program is an excellent government initiative to recognise the importance of Australian export.
Philip Cowley, Director
Runge, winner Services Award 2007
The benefits of receiving the award are increased recognition and credibility. Runge plans to IPO this year (2008) and this award assists us with increased awareness and increased credibility about our global business.
We have a lot of pride in this award. Receiving it confirms some of our perception about ourselves. We believe that we provide world class products and services. The export award helps to confirm this belief in ourselves.
We have received congratulations from customers and peers in the industry on the award and again the reactions seem centered around the award providing confirmation and credibility that our company is recognised as a leader in our field.
For companies considering applying for a 2008 Export Award, we say, DO IT!
The process that you need to go through when applying provides an opportunity to pause and reflect on the successes of your business.
It also captures the successes in writing, for distribution throughout your business. The pat on the back to staff on a job well done comes internally. The icing on the cake is when you win the award.
The information collected also provides a good source of information for many other promotional initiatives you may be undertaking.
Queensland's export awards program is exceptional, run with considerable effort. I was very impressed by how Peter Beattie has owned the awards and promoted them. I trust that Anna Bligh will continue this. This level of commitment from the Premier means that the awards are valued and they are serious.

James Cook University, winner Education Award 2007
Winning the Queensland Export Awards for the past two years in a row has been a huge achievement for James Cook University (JCU).
The award acknowledges JCU's staff who are committed to education - to teaching, researching and supporting students from around the world. It acknowledges the marketing and recruitment strategies put in place to increase student numbers, the support measures put in place to make sure that international students have the best chance of success during their studies, and a commitment to JCU's overall strategy for internationalisation of its campuses, curriculum and community. It has raised awareness of JCU and the JCU brand across the local community, and our overseas representatives and partner institutions are aware and proud to work with and represent JCU in their local markets. Within JCU, it has created an opportunity for staff to come together to celebrate this achievement and more confidence and initiative to move beyond this to reach further goals.
The Australian education industry has congratulated and supported JCU's efforts in the export of international education with great praise. It has been a chance for the local community and our colleagues at other institutions around Australia to hear about and acknowledge the success and commitment that JCU has to internationalising its campuses, staff and students.
Definitely apply! It is always easy to look at where the organisation is right now and how far you need to go to reach your department or institutional goals. What we don't do enough is look at where we've been and how far we've come, even in the space of one year. JCU has achieved some amazing results and applying and winning the local and then state export awards has increased the confidence and recognition of what staff and students are doing to achieve those overall goals. It has encouraged us to take more chances and to realise that there is so much more that we can do as a growing institution with the goal of being Australia's leading education exporter!

Mark Bathie, CVSDude, winner Richard Joel Young Export Entrepreneur Award 2007
The award was and is great in terms of PR for our company.
It also boosts and enhances the credibility and status of our business when talking to investors, potential business partners, and just generally in the business community.
There is no way to measure this with hard numbers. I think it definitely helps separate us from our competition.
You've got to be in it to win it, as they say. If you feel you have a solid business, that's focused on exporting and selling off shore, with existing sales channels and or partnerships, then you'd be crazy not to enter for an award.
Overall a fantastic event, very well organized and presented.
Mark Bathie, Founder / CEO
Mincom, winner Information Communications Technology Award 2007
Winning the Premier's Export Award for the second consecutive year carries a high level of credibility with it and has led to significant positive coverage for Mincom both nationally and internationally. An important benefit of the award program was the opportunity to share our export experience while providing a valuable forum to engage with other high-profile businesses on what it takes to be an export champion.
Being recognised as an export leader in our field by industry and customers alike is one of our greatest achievements and since receiving the award we have received welcome recognition from both. The award has been a welcome accolade and has further enhanced our industry profile.
It is well worth applying to the Export Award program. Winner, finalist or contender, the program helps you build up your industry network and channels of government support and assistance. It is equally a great honour to be recognised for taking the next step from the domestic marketplace into the global arena.
It's through programs like the Queensland Export Awards that companies, like Mincom, have the opportunity to celebrate and be recognised for their contributions to export market growth.
Meredith Bird, Global Communications Manager
Firewire Surfboards, finalist Emerging Exporter Award 2007
All awards, whether we're simply a contender or the winner, boost moral within our company, particularly at floor level. The look of our office has also been enhanced as we proudly place the beautiful award won for the Gold Coast Mayor's Innovation Award in our front reception area.
It is a talking point for many who walk through our doors. Great design! We also gained exposure through the process, particularly on the night in front of many influential people within Queensland and also on the Queensland Government website after having won the Rising Star Award at the Smart State Awards in 2007.
To be honest, I do not believe huge emphasis is placed on such awards within the traditional surfing industry. However, we do not perceive our company to be a 'traditional' surfboard manufacturer and we are very proud to have won both state and local government awards last year, although we were not winners at the 2007 Export Awards. It is a great opportunity for the company to gain exposure, to boost or enhance moral within the company and a great night of entertainment. Thanks to the Queensland Government for providing the opportunity and taking time to recognise Queensland businesses for their efforts.
Whether you are a winner or a contender, recognition by the Queensland Government is something to be very proud of.
Neville Hyman, Director
Cutting Edge, winner Arts, Entertainment and Design Award 2007
Winning the Arts and Entertainment Award in the Premier of Queensland's Export Awards is always an achievement that makes the company's staff aware of our achievements and motivates us to further increase our export results. The award is something that we always let our clients know about which always increases our credibility.
As mentioned above our clients are always very impressed with our Export Award wins and it certainly strengthens the credibility of the Cutting Edge brand both within the film and TV industry and in other industries.
Definitely apply and get your staff involved in the excitement.
The Queensland Government has done an amazing job over the years building the profile of this awards program and there is no doubt that it is responsible for motivating many companies in their export efforts.
