Nolan Meats operates at four sites including the Gympie Meat Processing Plant; Wide Bay Feedlot; and Coldstores at Morningside and Hemmant in South-East Queensland, and employees 350 employees. Nolan Meats export a wide range of beef products to all major markets around the world, as well as specialist niche markets that few other Australian exporters’ access such as Malaysia and Brunei. PWR designs and manufactures light weight aluminium, high performance radiators, oil coolers and intercoolers at its purpose built factory at Yatala; selling throughout Australia and exporting all over the world. PWR has focussed on racing markets overseas as its core growth strategy, and this has delivered significant revenue growth in the last 3 years. PWR has achieved notable successes in the past year with race teams using its cooling solutions such as Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel winning the Formula 1 2010 Drivers championship plus Red Bull winning the Formula 1 Constructors championship.

Outback Imaging is a Queensland- based software research and development company specialising in creating innovative application software for document capture. The product is marketed under the ‘EzeScan’ brand name. By finding a gap in the market between what businesses needed from their scanning software and what was being provided by available commercial solutions Outback Imaging built a better product, crammed it full of innovative functionality, made it easier to use, and started selling it to the world.

Winner: List Premier Education Pty Ltd (Mount Cotton)
List Premier Education is involved in the development, production and worldwide distribution of educational and training programs using an Interactive Touch Board in a classroom setup. The company, led by Professor Johann DeBeer, was the first in the world to develop interactive touch board programs. Today, as a result of List Premier Education’s hard work, most schools in the USA, the UK and Australia have touch boards in their classrooms. In 2004 List Premier developed Mining Skills Training Programs using touch boards in a world-first, as well as a series of Mine Safety Training Programs, successfully introduced to hundreds of mining groups in China, Chile, Africa and Indonesia.

The company sells patent-pending digital gaming guns, gaming inflatables and authentic live games. “The foundation of our business is exports, because we have niche gaming product we rely on overseas markets. This gives us the opportunity to be engaged in exciting cross-brand projects, such as partnering with Microsoft to run a series of live games across Canada as part of the launch of the new HALO REACH game,” said Nicole Lander, Markting C.O. of the company.

Minecorp was founded in 2007 after identifying a gap in the market for the requirement for light vehicle safety solutions. The business began inside a small facility on Brisbane's southside. Today, Minecorp operates out of a significantly larger purpose equipped factory, encompassing the Manufacturing, Assembly, Sales and Administration operations. In the last month Minecorp has set up a National Distribution Centre housing the R&D, Packaging, Stores and Distribution functions. In 2010, BRW acknowledged Minecorp as one of Australia's top 100 fastest growing companies, which is testament to the focus, vision and drive of the directors and their team.

APASA has managed and successfully completed 500+ projects since its inception in 1998 to 20 different countries. APASA's clients include fortune 500 global companies such as Royal Dutch Shell, Exxon Mobil and Santos.
Richard Joel Award
Winner: Benjamin Carter - EnerTec Australia (Ipswich)
EnerTec Australia has rapidly grown as an exporting company by making a number of key changes to cope with challenging export conditions. In early 2011, Ben Carter acquired majority shareholding in EnerTec Australia. Ben identified that in order to increase profitability, Enertec would have to differentiate itself from the international competition. Over the last 12 months EnerTec has changed its business plan to include significant design capabilities by way of a number of Queensland's brightest, locally trained (UQ) young mechanical engineers to allow it to become a smarter, lower cost provider of HVAC solutions, whilst maintaining high levels of quality.
