Bob Quinn
Special Representative to Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand
The Honourable Bob Quinn was leader of the Queensland Liberal Party from 2001 until 2006.
A school teacher for 22 years before entering politics, Bob was elected to State Parliament in 1989 after winning the seat of South Coast.
The booming population of the Gold Coast saw his electorate undergo several redistributions and name changes. He was the Member for Robina in his later terms.
During his 17 years in State Parliament, Bob was a member of numerous Parliamentary Committees and held various Shadow Ministerial positions when not in government.
He was the Minister for Education in the last Coalition Government (1996-1998) and led a trade delegation of university representatives to China and Hong Kong to establish links with Chinese universities and encourage overseas students to study in Queensland.
He was also a member of a Parliamentary Trade Delegation to China and Japan in the early 1990s.
In 2000, Bob was the Queensland Parliament's representative at the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association's Annual Conference in London.
