International Business Cadetship Program

About the program

Established in 1999, the program provides Queensland entities with the opportunity to sponsor a cadet to undertake a market-based export or investment project in one of the following Trade Queensland international locations:

  • North Americas
  • China
  • UK/Europe
  • India
  • Japan
  • Korea
  • United Arab Emirates

Benefits of sponsoring the 29-week cadetship program:

  • targeted market research or export project of strategic importance to your business (export or investment focus)
  • value for money/cost-effective international market entry
  • valuable insights into growing markets
  • increased international market exposure
  • possible promotional expense, enabling you to apply for Austrade's Export Market Development Grant (subject to compliance with the rules of the program and approval from Austrade).

Investment for sponsors is $20 000.

Sponsors participate in a comprehensive selection process of successful and highly motivated applicants to fill several cadet positions. The selection process aims to ensure the best possible matching of cadets' skills with sponsors' requirements, including (where applicable) particular language/cultural skills.

Cadetship

Applications for 2011 cadet positions will be called in mid-2010.

During the 29-week placement you will undertake targeted research and market assessment work for your sponsor. The program, a great opportunity for you to enhance your international business and marketing expertise, includes:

  • a five-week orientation period with your sponsors in Queensland
  • a 20-week placement in a Trade Queensland international office where you will complete an export / investment focussed project for your sponsor
  • a four-week debrief in Queensland with your sponsor and Trade Queensland.

Sponsorship

In mid-2010, Trade Queensland will seek expressions of interest from Queensland companies and organisations interested in sponsoring the 2011 International Business Cadetship program.
