Cadetship offers career change
Tyre recycling may not sound exciting to some, but for Jack Josephson it led to a career change and the start of his own business.
Jack worked with Link Pty Ltd and Leader Machinery Pty Ltd, specialists in tyre recycling machinery, as part of Trade and Investment Queensland's International Business Cadet program in 1999.
Through the program he was placed in Los Angeles, where he assisted the companies with in-market research to identify market opportunities in the US for their machinery.
"The cadetship helped me to better understand international markets and capital raising for start-up companies," said Jack.
"Not only did I bring back information on the market potential, but also research on some of the most successful state-of-the-art tyre recycling programs.
"My experiences through the cadetship were instrumental in changing my life, leading me to start up my first company Tech Adhesives Pty Ltd.
"We are about to launch a new company, FLOORChef Pty Ltd, that already has international interest in the US and Europe, with the US branch due to launch this year.
"The cadet program introduced me to excellent entrepreneurial and business mentors that I'm still in contact with today.
"If you are ready for change, then it is a wonderful way to be exposed to a different market and also learn how governments can assist industry find their market potential."
